Cartmell Home for Aged is
a not for profit, charitable organization chartered in 1953, as directed
in the Will of
Miss Sarah E. J. Cartmell.
Miss Cartmell, born in England
and a resident of Palestine, Texas since her early childhood, left
instructions in her will for the establishment of the Home.
Cartmell Home began serving the Palestine Community
in 1956 when it opened its original 44 bed home. Today, Cartmell Home
has grown to be a community of five distinct neighborhoods with a total
of 199 Licensed Nursing Beds.
Under the guidance of a dedicated local volunteer board
of directors and professional staff, the Home has gained recognition as
one of the finest eldercare facilities in Texas. Members of its board of
directors and staff have won numerous awards of excellence from the
Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.
